Hi forum,

In old days I used the Ecco Shooter to e.g. select a URL and Shoot it to Active View.
This would create an item with the selected contents to a new item in Ecco. The related URL would be copied to the Net Location folder.
Double clicking the newly created item would open your browser and send you back to the original page.

Shooting to Ecco works allright, but the URL doesn't get copied to the Net Location folder....
Thus I loose the link to the original information.

Can someone help to remedy this situation?

Thanks for your input!

Erwin

Have you tried the MagicView tool ?

(Winkey + Shift + Control + E  is hotkey for text inclusive clip.)

also EccoMagic (classic)  allows you to Control+C copy any text in browser, then
paste back into ecco with URL and links list.

(see eccomagic instructions).

Thanks for your tip! Works great.
Still in process of dicovering what MAGICview has under the hood - quite a bit, I'd say =-)

What would be the way to jump to the original internet article, once you've clipped it into Ecco?
I've noticed the URL colum/folder, but this does not seem to work like the Net Location colume/folder.

Any easy way to say copy URL column content to Net Location colum??

Thanks for your tips! Much appreciated.

1. from inside MV  Alt + O  (to original source,  url  or document, etc.)

2. URL column *should* work same,  use the MagicViewView installer to set up,  or see post near bottom of first page page of MV thread showing how to manually set up...  (can just copy from launch tool for Net Location as well).

Edited:
The URL is saved to a separate URL folder because MV pages can be added to existing items.  An existing item can have its own 'net location' value,  and is not overwritten.   Also,  if multiple clips are saved to same MV page,  Alt + O will prompt as to which desired page to open in browser.
