Faxing Solutions: MagicMerge (v1.29 and above) has been coded to include fully automated fax merging (
Winkey + Shift + Click on tray icon).
However, this is officially an "Unofficial" feature because of the extremely large base of systems that are not actually set up to support the automated Word faxes (because of windows setups, security settings, microsoft software version, partial windows install, etc.)
Ie. automated fax merging will only work on your system if you can normally fax directly from Word Merge. If you can't get Word to merge to fax (without MagicMerge), you won't get it to merge to fax with it. (Although using MagicMerge is a whole lot easier then using Word's built in merge).
If your system has the right internals and security settings... enjoy this bonus!
For the rest of us, printing merged templates to a fax printer is also a nice solution/alternative to automated direct merged faxing.
You can also use a service such as
www.metrohispeed.com to use email merges to be sent to faxes directly. Essentially you send to the desired fax number @your_email_2_fax_provider. This allows you to use one 'Email To' folder to send your merged letters to everyone with an email or a fax. If they have no email, your ecco 'Email To' folder lists their (email2fax) email address.
It's actually kind of nice.
