Title: Ecco MagicFilter and Search Post by Admin on 04/05/09 at 21:39:04 MagicFilter and Search * Find the intersect points between data in different folders. * Instantly filter items from the sub-folders of a folder in a single click. * Filter based on folder structure and contexts, based on any of a group of folders being assigned to an item.
* Create instant on-the-fly 'ALL' or 'ANY' filters just by checking the desired folders in the folder outline. * Create explicit filters. Normal ecco filters apply if an item's parent matches the filter. MagicFilter filters apply only if an item explicitly has the designated folder values. * Freely combine MagicFilters with native ecco filters, and update the MagicFilter portion 'on-the-fly'. * Filter based on VIEWED items-- narrow searches to currently viewed or selected items.
* Append new searches to Phonebook view, adding the matching items to the existing phonebook view, instead of replacing the existing view with the new items. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |
Title: Re: Ecco MagicFilter Post by Admin on 09/11/09 at 10:37:41 Example 1 Example of instant intersect filter. What's going on here A "New" ecco file was opened (from standard default.ect sans pointer corruptions). Magic Filter was run, right click on Icon, REFRESH. Right click on Icon Create Ecco MFilter. Select Tools > Filter View > MFilter Check Priority and Daily Journal folders. Click in All selected. Note: You can select a parent and multi-level sub folders by pressing "Shift" when clicking on the folder. In "in ALL selected" mode, a match of *any* of the branch of folders is sufficient. So, if you have 15 sub-contexts and check the parent context and all sub-contexts (can also be multi-leveled beyond parent/child), not likely any item will have all sub-contexts checked! Instead *any* item in the branch is taken as all of the items being selected for filtering purposes. To require matching actually *all* the folders checked, hold down "Shift" when pressing "in ALL selected". |
Title: Re: Ecco MagicFilter Post by Admin on 09/12/09 at 17:54:45 Example 2 Example of a context filter. What's going on here Items are assigned to very specific contexts. Contexts exist in a larger context. Items are also assigned priority, type of activity, etc. Shift + Click selects/deselects folder & all levels of sub folders Magic Filter for "in ALL selected". Note: Items must be in "Things to Do" folder. Items can be in *any* of the checked "Shopping" folders. Very much helps making sure you do what you need to do when you are there. Contexts can be time zones, or any other resource besides physical location-- for example people. |
