Hi forum,

I'm trying to tidy up some copy-pasted text into Ecco in order to make use of Ecco's outline functionality.
The text I copied largely contains paragraph and sub-paragraph and consequently numbered items, and I want to transform the original outline order into Ecco, so that we will be able to enter REMARKS and ANSWERS or ILLUSTRATIONS to the original text but as suitable items / subitems.
Here's an exerpt:

Nog vóór de installatievergadering werd aangevat werden reeds schadebeperkende
maatregelen genomen. Door de firma XXXXX werden trekstangen (stalen profielen)
en spankabels aangebracht waardoor de scheidingsmuur tussen beide panden en de
voorgevel van het pand van de b.v.b.a. YYYYY met elkaar werden verbonden. Hierdoor
werd het verder scheuren van de voorgevel en bijkomende verzakingen vermeden.
Concluante verwijst daarvoor naar de foto’s in het deskundig voorverslag waarin de
toestand vóór de werken en de toestand na de werken en het aanbrengen van de
trekstangen en spankabels wordt weergegeven.

Tijdens de expertise en op advies van de gerechtsdeskundige en ingenieursbureau
ZZZZZ werden nog een aantal bijkomende schadebeperkende maatregelen genomen om
de toestand volledig te stabiliseren.
Op 2 november 2004 maakt de firma YYYYY een voorstel over voor het uitvoeren
van definitieve maatregelen tot herstelling van de voorgevel van het pand van de b.v.b.a.
XXXXX . Ook de b.v.b.a. MMMMMMMM heeft een
voorstel tot definitieve herstelling van de voorgevel van het pand van de b.v.b.a. YYYYY.
De deskundige belegt daarop een bijkomend plaatsbezoek op 7 december 2004 om deze
voorstellen tot de definitief herstelling te bespreken en mogelijk naar een regeling te gaan.
Op deze vergadering weigert de b.v.b.a. XXXXX elk voorstel tot definitieve herstelling te
aanvaarden. De deskundige schrijft hieromtrent (zie p. 10 verslag): “Eisende partij MMMMM
gaat niet akkoord met het voorstel van LLLLLL voor de definitieve consolidering van de
voorgevel.”

What I'm actually looking for is to be able to position the cursor at e.g. the end of a numbered paragraph, just before the next number, THEN e.g. press ENTER, and see the item being SPLIT UP into 2 items??

I've been playing around with magic Hijack! and feel this functionality may be contained in some extension or maybe Ecco itself, but I just can't pinpoint how to do it....

P.S. I've been trying to print out the magicHijack! Function Summary as a reference, also tried copying and pasting but to no avail.... Is there a secret way???

not fancy, but attached a PDF version for you.

ps: a secret way would be to use the MagicView program. You can screen clip (Winkey+F12) each screen of the Hijack! help, and 'assemble' them together, save and/or print them out.

Shift + Control + S

splits at cursor if nothing selected,

cuts & pastes as new item selection if anything selected.

ps:
proper format of paste INTO ecco, should auto-place your lines as outline items...

Thanks for the pdf print as well.

Two remaining questions:
- Shift + Control +S -> What does this command belong to? Is this eccoext? Where can I find a command / shortcut reference?
- I guess there is also a command to inverse an erroneous split? So reappend?

What do you exactly mean with this?
I seem to have 5 paste options, see attached png.

1. just so others can track, you're using the slang "extension".

2. See the "ITEM" menu for join and split commands (normal ecco feature)

3. if you copy your text to text editor, (notepad even) and just put returns where you want a new item, and TAB to increase the indent level,

copy and paste THAT, and will be pasted as individual items, properly indented.

(you can also paste as RTF outline fromat if is RTF formatted).
