Instant outlining is a feature that emerged from Frontier. It periodically polls a server for an outline and merges it into the currently opened outlining. So, as the remote author updates his outline it appears updated in your view. The outline then becomes a medium for communication of ideas, as well as putting newly received information into context. In this respect, outlining has an advantage over plain email.
