Unzip the attached file for a step-by-step quickstart tour of MagicView's Look & Feel.
Guide summary (detailed in .eco file included in attached .zip):
Quickstart STEPS:
Download MagicView.exe_File (and optionally MVInstall.exe) from www.EccoTools.com
Rename the files by removing the "_File", eg.: MagicView.exe and MVInstall.exe
Place the files in your ecco program directory.
Make sure this file is in same directory as the WebClippersSample.eco.web Folder (from the Zip file)
Optionally: With Ecco off, run MVInstall.exe ONE TIME, and then Re-Open EccoPro
Run MagicView.exe
if prompted by 'anti-spy' software such as ZoneAlarm, etc. AUTHORIZE MagicView. It will not work if it cannot 'spy' and 'take over' Ecco. Most anti-spy software correctly recognize that MagicView is 'spying' on your use of another program. MagicView must 'Spy' on EccoPro in order to work!
if prompted by firewall software, AUTHORIZE MagicView to access DNS, the web, and act as a server. You cannot access most webclip features without access to the Web. You do not need web access for localized files. This example does include a few localized files, so, YOU DON'T NEED WEB ACCESS TO TRY THIS-- BUT YOU'LL BE VERY, VERY LIMITED WITHOUT IT!.
OPTIONAL: Click the "View" button, and select "Lined Template"
Click View and if unchecked select "Internalize"
Click View and select "As Sidebar" (you can press Winkey + Control + Z instead)
You should now see the MagicView pane inside of your ecco. You can play with pressing F6 a few times, then Shift + F6, and then ALT + F6 to get a feel for different placement options.
Press Winkey + Q (or Right click inside of MagicView pane and select File > QuickView)
note: The initial default setting for QuickView uses a more universal but often slower connection method with Ecco. You can change this later by selecting File > Folder Options > Alternate QV Connection. Once you are familiar with MagicView it is suggestion you try the change to see which Ecco connection method works best on your system.
Click on any of the sub items of Section B below.
You can also press Winkey + < or Winkey + > to move up/down in ecco. Left click on the "<" and ">" buttons in magicview pane for same.
Press F11 in magicview pane to enlarge. F11 again to restore. F1 for help. Alt-X index helpful with instructions. F1 again to restore. Press Winkey + Z to see how to restore/remove the button strip. (Also via Right click View > Minimalize)
You can Make your own clips by using Winkey + F12 from your web browser or mostly any other program.
If non-obvious, Ecco ALSO has a built in timeline for clips. (So long as you have any auto-datestamp folder enabled). Press Alt+1 to see in this example.
This item is Just an example of an encrypted page. If you enter wrong password, use Winkey+Alt+D (from MV pane) to clear.
Just to note some basic features that may not be obvious at first:
Items have additional folder info, which you can view in columns.
Similarly, you can view items by clip date using the Calendar view.
Within MagicView pressing Alt + O will open the original page in your web browser.
You can directly and freely edit & markup any viewpage, just like any other part of your ecco outline or columns.
Alt + Click on any link opens that link in your web browser.
