I heard the interface used by search engines is standard, and i heard Slang could think about realization if there will be a demand.
The demand DOES exist. Guys & girls, please support me. Slang, please, please!

There are a lot of search tools, http://www.kalio.info/Desktop_Search_Comparison/
It is a trend and the future.

Humble i use Google Desktop Search - it is the second useful program after Ecco for me. Now i never remember where my files are stored, i'm totally relaxed and rely on mental keywords. It seems me very intelligent, it monitors changes of folders tree, it is the fastest way to find any file \ email. The enterprise version (freeware as well) select files by type, can search through Lotus Notes (which is *amazing*), through Life, the Universe, and Everything, apart from... Ecco.

I used to use GDS (google) but,  found actually that is misses many things.....

(ie.. it is NOT 100%).

today I personally use and *highly* recommend a little program "Archivarius 3000"  <http://www.likasoft.com/document-search/>  which is way less 'cool' than GDS and lacks maybe some features even,

but is... well,   massively closer to 100% in search results which (to me)  is what is important...

a program *can* indeed be coded to make eco searchable... but...

not sure the work in doing that is worth the demand....

maybe....

someone will take it on as project (?)

it's sort of 'ecco like'...  not as 'fancy' as GDS,  but,

find that I use it 10X more than used GDS,

and is 100X more accurate....  (ie. efficient).

ps:  don't know why GDS is not actually 100%,

but it for sure is not... (and very much not at that).

Guys, where do you store your bookmarks?
Is the eccopro really the main authoritative place to store bookmarks for you?

Bookmarks - they are mess. A tons of bookmark synchronizers, converters, online lists..
None of them can tie a TODO date to a bookmark, nor a voluntary number of labels (like "location \ project \ person" etc)
(Google bookmarks supports labels - but not hierarchy).
None of them can integrate bookmarks to our loved TODO tree.

From the other hand, bookmarking tools are integrated into browser and searchable by Desktop Searches Engines.

Ok, let's forget integration with browser and bear copying bookmarks into "net locations" manually.

But search!

The slogan "Getting Things Done" states that it is important to make places under radar ("income" folders) as few as possible.

Shared Search would help to merge bookmarks from different sources.

yes.  if Ecco has life in more years,  will need a tool to export a searchable contents that can also provide link back to original source...

you can search within an ecco file globally (you are very likely aware of this, yes ?)

you should NOT be needing to do this.

you should be able to highlight and send directly.

= you should be able to highlight and send directly.
HOW?
can i select a text in address bar, and paste it into an active\default  view by a hot key?
can i right click a link (not entering into it) and paste it into ecco by a context menu?
via shooter? (i don't believe.)

in fact i do not see ecco context menu neither in firefox, nor in IE, nor in notepad, but yes in Lotus Notes - tell me that's problem only mine and i'll dig it out.
in fact i've moved ecco files to usb stick, could miss some dll? and probably reinstallation can help?

= ecco can search through a file globally
yes you right. But only through one file - that's another reason to bring all the stuff into one file and then struggle with ecco limitations. Once you enable external search, you enable sharing knowledge between files. Take it as just a thought, i don't insist on developing the thread as i can not help here much.
