An item can be set via it's "Tickler Properties" to show up daily in your tickler section, until the item is explicitly marked "Done".   Without this,  the item only shows up on the day it is set.   This propery can be made the default property for all items assigned to a date folder by adusting the "Properties"  for that folder  (In the "Folder" pane).

WHEN THIS OPTION IS SET,  marking a non-time (ie. tickler section) item as "Done" will automatically remove it from the calendar view!!

An item that is set to a specific time,  will show up on the "time" side of the calendar view for the day it is set.  If set for "show unitl marked done",  on subsequent days it will show up in the tickler section (Not the hour of the day section)  until explicitly marked done.

An item can also be set to REPEAT  ("Recurring" items).   Items which Repeat can be deleted (and you will be prompted, and can choose "This Occurence only",  and only *that* occurence will be deleted).   Moreover,   Repeating items which are set to show until marked done can be marked "Done"  ** for that particular day you are marking it done for **  and thus removed from the tickler view for that day (same result as deleting the item, except you can 'unmark' them done to have them re-appear)  !

Repeating items ("Recurring") WITH A FIXED TIME,  allow you to enter SUB-ITEMS which show up in the calendar view  ** ONLY FOR THE OCCURENCE OF THE ITEM THEY WERE ENTERED IN THE CALENDAR VIEW UNDER **.   You can also set this manually (from other views, for example),   (or remove it-- so that the sub items show up in every occurence),  via the "Recurring Note Dates" folder.    All sub items in any case show up on a Notebook view... and you can add column to display the "Recurring Note Dates" folder.
