IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT eccoMAGIC Control+Shift+C Gathering:

There is a small 'bug' in Ecco, which in a very special circumstance results in a Parent Item (TLI) being shown internally (via the windows clip & paste internals) as a sub item (SLI).

A TLI which begins with a TAB  (Ctrl-T in Ecco)  is registered by Ecco as a SUB-ITEM in the windows clip&paste system.

(The EZSolution follows below.)

For the brave at heart,  you can try this test:

With eccoMAGIC de-activated, open an outline in Ecco.

Add an item,  and add a sub item to that item.

Then add a second (top level) item,  but make the VERY FIRST THING in the text of that item to be a Ctr-T.

then mark the two top level items,  and copy them (Ctrl-C).

Close ecco  (not just the file,  but the entire ecco program, exit it),
and re-open Ecco.

open a new notebook and paste (ctrl-v) from the clipboard.

What should be two top level items,  one with a sub item,

becomes instead one top level item and two sub items !

So,  if you are using the gather feature (ctrl-shift-C) of eccoMAGIC,

BE AWARE THAT ECCO MAKES TOP LEVEL ITEMS STARTING WITH A CTRL-T

LOOK LIKE A SUB LEVEL ITEM,  AND SO THEY ARE *NOT* GATHERED!

With its current structure, accepting the internal 'paste' from ecco (using some of the same code points as the 'shooter')  eccoMAGIC is receiving 'mis' information about the outline structure (just like in the example above,  where Ecco pastes back into itself with the 'mis' informed structure).  So,  there is no way for eccoMAGIC to 'fix'  from outside this particular nuance of Ecco.

but,

(The EZSolution)

you can fix the issue instantly from within the outline itself.

1) If you want to start a line with a Ctrl-T  (tab),   just  use a space *before* it !   ie.  use "space" "Ctrl-T"  instead of "Ctrl-T"  at the *start* of a new line.

yep,   it's that easy.

2) You can do this for an already existing entire outline in 3 simple steps:

A) Mark just the tab itself and copy it with Ctrl-C
B) use the EDIT > FIND REPLACE function
C) the find line should already be filled in with a Tab (the Ctrl-T character),  just fill in the replace with "SPACE" and "CTRL-V" [to paste the tab]  and choose ENTIRE FILE and then press REPLACE ALL

It's that easy.  Smiley

Thanks to  Jeff Sonnabend  for pointing this issue out !
