For years I have been adding items to a folder and they remain in the same position where I put them. For several days now when I leave the folder and come back, I find the new items moved to the top of the item list. I want them to remain where I had put them. What can I do to turn off this behavior?

I use the Scratch Notepad to open my folders. There are no additional columns used nor did I use the sort function. If I sort the view then Scratch always sorts from then on. How do I turn off sorting in the Scratch folder?
