Is there some way to automatically insert a number in the merged letters (E-mails)?
For example, I want the first to show 100, the second to show 101, etc..?

yes.

{ MergeRec } and/or {MergeSeq} (field) is the record count #

you can also define fields that count,

see the example .doc file you can dload in the MM thread.

I wanted the sequece to start at an predetermined number; e.g. 100, and count up one for each merged doc. How do I do this?

look at fields in example .doc (in MM thread).

you can do all sorts of field math with Word. You can ADD a start number (fixed or based on ecco folder value) to the counter.. so can count up from 100 or whatever.
