Title: Sync with iPhone
Post by Digital_Dawn on 07/11/08 at 10:45:23

Hi, I'm a new subscriber to this board. I've been using Ecco since 1994 and love the program. I've looked at many other PIMs over the years and they just can't compete with Ecco.

Would love to buy the new iPhone, but since it doesn't sync with Ecco so I can't consider it. You folks seem to have the best selection of Ecco add-ons and I was hoping that you could find a way to have Ecco sync its phone book, calendar and tasks with the iPhone.

Thanks

1. Yes, is possible.

2. What does the I-Phone sync with now ?

ps: if APPLE gets enough requests to sync with Ecco,  *they* might just add the feature.....  (especially since its NON MS)

Currently, the iPhone syncs with Outlook.

if non-obvious, you can sync ecco to outlook & then outlook to iphone   and back again.

not optimum,  but one solution.

and...

likely an Ecco to iCal format sync is the most likely workable solution.  (but note, not having looked at sync options with iPhone,  am not certain).

I'm in the same boat, except I've gone ahead and bought the iPhone. I'm looking for someone to hire as a consultant, to make my Ecco data iPhone friendly. One of the Ecco pros.

Best regards, Ernie Beffel

[untested]

from what i've seen about iPhone (no actual trials),   your ecco data is likely *alerady* iphone friendly.

You should be able to inport "CSV" files into iphone,  and EXPORT them from ecco.

I didn't think that Ecco could currently sync with Outlook. The program that allowed this isn't available any longer, right?

Right most likely.

v1.62 of PDASync  maybe available on Ebay (?)  [not tested if works with latest outlook, etc.)

maybe can ask http://www.laplink.com/   to purchase older vers. (?).

'unofficial' PDASync v1.62 also available 'on the web'.

I bought one of these, and I can now sync with iTunes via Outlook 2003. It requires 3 syncs each time, but it does work with my iPhone.

Does this solution sync calendar?  I want calendar to ical for iphone; I know how to export other database info and import to outlook, but in calendar view the export option is grayed out.  I only want to sync calendar info.  Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yes, I use it to sync the Ecco calendar, and the Ecco phonebook. It syncs ToDo's with Outlook, but the iPhone doesn't have Tasks, so that component won't sync.
