Since as far as I am aware, there is currently no way to change this and it looks pretty horrid...

you are aware you can change the font size, right ?

Yes, via the toolbar, but the maximum available size is 10 pt, which on a large modern TFT display comes out rather tiny. I'd really love to use a larger size, condensed font like 12 pt Arial narrow...
